So some time ago, I was tagged by the great and lovely poolagirl to do a meme about 8 interesting things. I don�t know if it�s interesting things in particular about me, or just eight interesting things I happen to know. So I'm going with the latter. So there.
1) Red light makes your eyes tired very quickly. Red light overpowers the cones in your eyes, which in turn hypes up your adrenalin which is why it�s used in a panic situation, very dramatic moments in plays, or as the background for the second round in Jeopardy!. Or at least it was at one time.
2) Men have nipples because we all genetically start out as girls. Sometime in the first trimester, the hormones kick in with either testosterone or estrogen as dominant, so the little clusters of cells become either ovaries or testicles. Nipples, however, were already formed before this happens.
3) You can slaughter a human being in the same way that you would slaughter any other animal for meat, but the yield of usable meat is so low in proportion to the amount of effort it takes (not including �convincing� the human to slaughter) that it�s really not worth it.
4) Sandy Duncan does not have a glass eye. In the 1970�s, she had a tumor that damaged the optic nerve and she lost sight in that eye. Peter Falk, on the other hand, does have a glass eye.
5) Speaking of Peter Falk, the role of �Columbo� was derived from the trenchcoat-wearing detective in the French film Diabolique.
6) The reason that Graham Chapman plays the King Arthur role in Monty Python and the Holy Grail is that he was drunk at the time of casting the script.
7) There is no such thing as a �canola� plant. Canola oil is made from rapeseed oil. However, the notion of putting something on the market called �rape� anything inspired the Canadian makers of the product to name it "canola", which is derived from "Canadian oil, low acid."
8) The first vibrators were steam-powered.
