My mother is frightened of Shriners

On this day in 1776, Adam Weishaupt founds the Bavarian Illuminati, the secret society which controls your mind as part of its plot to overthrow organized religion and control the global economy. If you don't believe it, ask yourself what novus ordo seclorum is doing on your dollar bill.

It was quite a weekend, what with room painting and floor laying and movie watching and knitting:

The Convent: Wow. This movie actually was a lot better than it had a right to be. A sort of homage to zombie and slasher flicks of the 1980s, with Adrienne Barbeau and Coolio thrown in. In 1960, a girl goes into the convent chapel, beats all the nuns and the priest with a baseball bat, torches the place, and then shoots everyone. Fast-forward 40 years, and college kids break into this dilapidated convent on occasion to paint graffiti, and have general frat-style mayhem. Unfortunately, demons start killing and taking over all the kids (with the use of a lot of blacklights and UV sensitive makeup and paint). Barbeau, as the grown-up version of the nun-shooting of the 1960 girl, has to save the world from the demons. Hubsters review: I should know better than to talk to you after youve just seen a bad movie that you really liked.

The Subject is Sex: Wow. I thought Blockbuster did not hardcore porn available. They obviously have no idea whats on this disc. This is an odd compilation of sex movies, porn previews, x-rated cartoons, and army training films on How to Give an Enema. A celebration of full frontal through the cinematic ages. Features the trifecta of erection, penetration, and ejaculation in previews of such movies as Dynamite and the cartoon character Everready Something-or-Other. Also features strange home movies of nudist colonies and a surreal orgy/spanking party on a yacht. Or a battleship. Its hard to tell. Hubsters review: Does Blockbuster know that they rent this out??

The Celluloid Closet: Originally shown on HBO, this is a documentary about the presence of homosexual characters in film. The history goes from innuendo to swishy mincing men to Some Like it Hot to Philadelphia, and includes the formation of the Legion of Decency. This is a few years old, so it doesnt get up to Brokeback Mountain, obviously, but it still seems to me that as a society, were still stuck in that its a movie about gay people rather than its a movie mode. And I think theres something wrong with that. Hubsters review: I cant believe you waste your time watching the stuff you do, yet you havent seen Philadelphia. I dont know about you sometimes.

So I spent most of the day Saturday painting the computer room. Hubster, in his gloriousness, set up the computer in our bedroom so that our Diablo madness can continue. I had only one mishap; I taped off the wainscot to do the second color and the tape pulled off small sections of the basecoat due to the paint not being cured. Oh No! Ill have to do touch ups! Hubster did a wonderful job of laying the floor, considering hes never done that before, and he actually enjoyed himself. Hes weird like that.

Anyway, thanks for all the encouragement on the Donkey Story. Hopefully Ill continue it because I really enjoyed doing the story. And with all the pictures I find, who knows what will happen to that poor guy.

If I havent said it before, thanks for reading my diary, and now Ill leave you for today with this word of advice:
