Loss of Innocence: Part 675 On this day in 1947, in a very un-American fashion, Walt Disney testifies to the House Unamerican Activities Committee, naming Disney employees he believes to be Communists, ranting about how Communists were infiltrating the unions he has to deal with, and how "Commie groups began smear campaigns against [him]." Well, of course the Commies were against Disney, because he sought a Socialistic Utopia known as Disney Theme Parks. What say you, Mickey? Hubster and I actually got into a discussion last night as to what a pinko actually was. A pinko, of course, is a person who holds moderately leftist political views, who today would be called a hater of freedom. Which brings me to the phrase Commie Pinko Junkie Hippie, which is, really, an insult to the Communists. Youd never see a hippie working for the good of all people. Youd probably see a junkie actually doing more work because the workers would control the means of production for all products, including the processing of poppies. Once you have a standard production process, all shit becomes good. What say you, Donald? Would Elmo like to comment on that? Oh, but we all know who the real evil one is, yes? And we all know how Mr. Hooper died: But did you know about his links to the Manson Family? Oh, my innocent childhood, how I feel you dying like so many redshirts on Star Trek. But even though Gene Roddenberry died this day in 1991, at least I can still count on Captain Kirk to be a bastion of goodness and hope for us all: Or not.
