sunrise and sunset, happiness and tears Thank you all for your good wishes. It's all been going pretty good here. Hospice treated Dad wonderfully, and the funeral home has been fantastic about getting everything set up properly. The church has been great with the music and the Women's Club will be doing the reception as a gift to Mom. We think Dad will actually get a 21-gun salute at the military cemetary, which kind of boggles our minds -- 21 guns for a Petty Officer, First Class? Hey, whatever. He was instrumental in training young salties in survival training and how to user flight simulators, so there. It's actually been reltively peaceful and we (Mom and I) have been spending a lot of time just sitting and relaxing. After spending so much time being with Dad, we're not quite sure what to do with ourselves, but it's been nice, too. The phone has been ringing a lot, and that's to be expected. Hubster will be here on Saturday and will be staying until Tuesday. Bubba and SIL have offered to put us up (there's no room for two at Mom's house, stuffed to the gills as it is with kitsch) which will be nice. We haven't spent any time with Bubba and the SIL as a couple at all. I told Hubster to bring one of our favorite card games, maybe I can make Bubba break his lenten promise and drink a couple beers with me. Giving up beer or food or chocky for lent? Phooey on that! I hardly even remember to not eat meat on Fridays. Seems like RELIGION to me, and not faith. Perhaps I should just be a Quaker, then. Mom and I have even planned a little trip to one of her favorite casinos late next week, after everyone else has gone home. Hell, why not? I think casinos are fun, too. And god knows Mom's entitled to some good times. And happier times, too. And lots and lots of good memories. And a 21-gun salute herself.
