- So I made it to Florida with very little incident (save the horrible descent into my final city of destination, where the plane seemed to drop 10000 feet at once, and then had the sensation of bouncing down stair steps the rest of the way). Mum took me to see Dad in the hospital . . . The sight of him in the bed was too much for me to bear at first, and I had to flee the room. Literally flee. How my mother has survived taking care of him on her own is beyond me. It was so much worse than I anticipated, far worse than I thought I had prepared myself for.
