Ding a Ling!

So I talked to the rents yesterday, and my father is still on his Alzheimers decline, his diabetes is continuing to go out of control, and he has daily radiation for his colon cancer. On the other hand, hes pretty damn entertaining to talk to because I have no idea what hes talking about most of the time. But hes pretty emphatic about it, Ill tell you that.

Hubster believes he needs to be in a home, whereas I think he would do fine with in-home nursing care. Mom just needs to go to the Council on Aging to set it up, but she cant (or wont) bring herself to do that. Its times like these when I do wish that I lived closer, because then I could just take care of stuff like that. Hubster says that if we did live closer, Id have to quit my job and take care of them full-time . . . and there is some truth in that. Mom somehow has me wrapped around her finger trying desperately to gain her approval and to attempt to make her less angry at the world. At least, thats how I remember a good portion of my childhood. It occurred to me yesterday that I just really dont like her. And thats okay to feel that way. Isnt that amazing?

Otherwise, I spent most of my weekend furiously knitting my socks. Im on the home stretch now, doing the ribbing for the cuff, which I will continue until I run out of yarn. The socks are quite lovely. Ill have to post pictures. Then its on to making Christmas gifts and perhaps back to the squid hat for the Hubster. In other words, a very quiet and relaxing weekend, despite not having the day off from work on Friday, but thats okay because the good Hubster made dinner, which included oven-baked onion rings, yum! Oh yes, and we watched Transformers which was actually better than I thought it was going to be. And it had just enough explosions to make the Hubster happy. Next up on deck for the Hubster: Live Free or Die Hard. Eccch. Next up on deck for me: The Devil, a 1972 part horror-fest, part political allegory! Score!

Seriously, what better combination in movies is there? Except for maybe, I dont know, part fairy tale, part hardcore porn? Oh wait! Thats been done already!
