And cue the dwarf with the cornstarch . . .

So the good news is that I went to my second Weight Watchers meeting and got weighed in and there is officially 6.8 pounds less of me to love. Yippee! I got a gold star sticker because I lost 5 pounds, and we all know just what motivation stickers are! And no, I'm not being sarcastic. I always liked getting happy little stickers for doing good work in school, and the nuns were very stingy on handing those things out. But my absolute favorite was the self-inking red "happy face" stamp that Sister would put on the back of our hands if we were exceptional for some reason. I would do my best on those occasions to not wash the back of my hand so the stamp would last as long as possible. Of course, the ink would run and the shape would get all fuzzy and Mom would make me scrub it off before church on Sunday, which would make me mad because I wanted to show Sister how long I made the stamp last!

But then maybe that was why I didn't get so many red ink happy face stamps?

Poop.

In other news, I saw a movie yesterday from 1969 called The Gay Deceivers -- and the fact it's from 1969 should tell you a little bit about the movie but two buddies decide to act as a gay couple to avoid the draft, and hilarity ensues when they move into a San Francisco bungalow together to "keep up appearances" in case they are "investigated". It's actually very very camp and some of it is actually quite funny, especially the landlord, played by Michael Green, who makes Jack from Will and Grace look utterly butch. And the bungalow is also quite a scream, what with all the naked men art and festoonery and the flocked pink wallpaper in the bedroom, complete with a round bed!

Seriously, where do you go to get sheets for a round bed? In 1969? Obviously, today we have Google to take care of us, but I suspect you had to do some serious calling around to get round bed linens back then.

Okay, I just checked eBay, and a fitted round bed sheet runs you about $45. So you really have to prepare yourself for the ongoing expense when you invest in a round bed for your pink flocked bungalow. You might have to put off the purchases of the naked men festoonery and ceiling mirrors, because you know you need more than one set of sheets. Particularly if you anticipate participating in the kind of lifestyle that having a round bed, flocked wallpaper, naked men festoonery, and mirrored ceilings seem to require.
